A downloadable setting

The Last City is a system-agnostic tabletop RPG setting about a strange, modern-yet-futuristic, mundane-yet-magical metropolis full of mysteries for players to uncover.  Inspired by Dark City, Inception, and a smidge of John Wick, The Last City is perfect for groups hoping to play a campaign in a less traditional, stranger setting.

The eponymous Last City is a massive metropolitan city home to 100 million people, a colossal spiderweb of buildings, streets, and infrastructure, all of which would grind to a halt were it not for Smog, the mysterious gas that serves as the primary power source for most of the City, as well as the source of the mysterious power known as Shaping, the power to manipulate The Last City itself.

The Last City is host to a variety of organizations, each with their own unclear motivations and projects. The Metropolitan Government, ostensibly in charge of the city, tries to hold the chaos of the city together, but is still powerless before The Society, a mysterious cult of masked figures which wordlessly stalk the city.

The Society, as well as many inhabitants of The Last City, are also proficient at Shaping, the art of entering into a Smog high to gain a greater perception of the City, allowing a proficient Shaper to control infrastructure, manipulate traffic, or even change the physical space of the CIty to suit their needs.

Within The Last City you'll find:

  • A setting overview of The Last City
  • A detailed description of how Shaping works, and the different specializations of Shaping that characters can adopt, from the traffic-manipulating Roadrunners to the Stickerheads which see and move through street art
  • Detailed overviews of The Last City's factions, what they control, what they want, what they do, and the various little quirks that set them apart
  • Descriptions of The Last City's neighborhoods, laced with details GMs can use to bring their setting descriptions to life and to spin into entire campaign plots
  • 13 adventure seeds to help you begin your excursion into The Last City

This was a pretty neat little setting to read through! I have a few ideas on how to run this in a couple different systems. The only thing I would like to see is a few more factions.
